COUNTER just launched to the public today. An updated version of the cult-favorite Beautycounter, the new brand has some of our beloved products back – same as before. There are, however, a few new products (mostly vamped upgrades) and I’m so excited to share my COUNTER review with you. SHOP HERE.
COUNTER Review
When Beautycounter was forced to pause business last year, it gave the founder and her team a chance to look at products, reviews, sales, and feedback to create a parallel company but with incredible intention. The previous brand had a few hundred products. The new line is launching with just 19! So which 19 are they? What’s the same? And what’s the new stuff like?

Countertime Review
Previously packaged in pink glass, the new Countertime time is largely the same as it was before with 2 exceptions. This line is for people concerned with fine lines, wrinkles, and wanting to really activate a change in their skin.
The line offers ultra-hydration and bakuchiol – natural retinol (learn more about natural retinols)! This line included the cleansing oil that is a cult favorite in my family and friends circle and the Supreme Cream which was the first moisturizer to ever handle my winter skin dryness!
So, the two changes. The first is that the hydrating essence/toner is in new packaging (wondering what skin toners are for?). It’s in the same pump style as the previous Countermatch toner.
Second is the replacement of the serum with the Countertime Retinatural+ Advanced Super Serum. This serum offers three retinol alternatives to aid in skin renewal (sans the irritation and suns-sensitivity from natural retinol).
Counterglow Review
Counterglow is the big news in the new COUNTER launch and therefore an exciting part of my COUNTER review!! Countermatch was the line that offered hydration and skin support – nothing too active. This new one is still focused on hydration, but updated ingredients and formulas provide more than it ever could before.
The Counterglow Silky Skin Cleanser is a foaming cleanser like before, but it’s creamier and includes milled oat flour – a nourishing and mild buffing feature that your skin will love. The cleanser also has a unique form of hyaluronic acid (the ultimate in hydration) to clean better to skin, even through rinsing.
And then the toner/essence step is now the Hyaluronic Moisture Mist. Yep, a facial spray. This has micro hyaluronic acid that can penetrate deeply and instantly, so not only is it a great prep step in your skin care routine, you can use it throughout the day to get a boost of hydration without ruining you makeup.
The Counterglow serum is one that I’m super excited about too. Not just hyaluronic acid, but three forms of hyaluronic acid to provide hydration, skin plumping, and elasticity. It’s a dream come true for all your hydration needs.
And then the Counterglow Adaptive Moisture Lotion is largely the same as before with some upgraded ingredients, which is exciting since everyone loves this face cream. My husband has even deemed it the best face cream and included it in his must-have Natural Skincare for Men! note: the launch of this new version has been paused, so the original is available!!
Best COUNTER Products
Ok. So, if I had to pick the top 5 products for this COUNTER Review, they would be as follows:
First, the cleansing oil truly has no comparative product. It’s so easy to use and EVERYBODY I know loves it.
Second, the Supreme Cream is truly unique in the amount of intense moisture it provides without overwhelming your skin. I use it all fall and winter (nightly). And when I do, I don’t struggle with any dry skin during those rough months. No Joke.
Third, the All Bright Vitamin C Serum. I’m obsessed with skin brightening products and this one is the first one I used that really helped my skin. I will tell you that I still think this other one is the best vitamin C serum, but I do truly love the COUNTER one.
Fourth, is the new Counterglow Tri-luronic hydrating serum. All those forms of hydration are like a welcome mat to my skin these days and I love nourishing it while I use all my other favorite active products!!
And, finally, while I’m actually a huge fan of tinted sunscreens for face, my family loves the Daily Sheer Defense SPF 25. It’s a non-nano zinc oxide and I love that it’s small and great for my whole family!
