Crochet Pattern: Cute Blue Monster Keychain

Create your own adorable monster keychain, inspired by a friendly blue character, perfect for brightening up your keys or bag!

Materials

Work in continuous rounds unless otherwise specified. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the first stitch of each round.

Head and Body (starting from top of head – Yarn A)

R2: 6 inc [12]

R3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 [18]

R4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 [24]

R5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 [30]

R6-R10: 30 sc (5 rounds) [30]

Insert safety eyes between R8 and R9, approximately 5-6 stitches apart.

R11: (3 sc, dec) x 6 [24]

R12: (2 sc, dec) x 6 [18]

Start stuffing the head firmly. Continue stuffing as you go.

R13: (1 sc, dec) x 6 [12]

R14: 12 sc [12]

FO, leave a long tail. Weave the tail through the front loop of the remaining 6 stitches and pull tight to close. Weave in end.

Arms (Make 2 – Yarn A)

R1: MR 6 sc [6]

R2-R3: 6 sc (2 rounds) [6]

R4: 2 sc in Yarn A, change to Yarn B for next 2 sc, change to Yarn A for next 2 sc [6]

Cut Yarn B, switch back to Yarn A completely.

R5: 6 sc in Yarn A [6]

FO, leave a long tail for sewing. Flatten the arm and sew the opening closed (optional, can also sew open). Do not stuff.

Horns (Make 2 – Yarn C)

R1: MR 5 sc [5]

R2-R3: 5 sc (2 rounds) [5]

FO, leave a long tail for sewing. Do not stuff.

Assembly and Finishing

  • Attach Arms: Using the long tails, sew the arms to the sides of the body, around R15-R16.
  • Attach Horns: Sew the horns to the top of the head, slightly behind the eyes.
  • Embroider Mouth: Using black embroidery floss, stitch a small smiling mouth below and between the safety eyes.
  • Attach Keychain: Securely attach the keychain hardware to the top center of the head.
  • Weave in any remaining loose ends.
